Hey Wait...Wait...Weight, Weight? Wait Just a Minute!
It Just Silently Creeped Up On Me!
Ladies I am going to be transparent. I didn’t notice the weight gain until I was excited about wearing one of my favorite outfits and it didn’t fit! In my mind I thought “Did the material shrink?” Had I been wearing such comfy stretchy clothes that the weight ( I am covering my eyes as I share this ahaa moment.) was not a factor until I attempted to try on my favorite tailored outfits?
Okay so in my mind it (the weight) is not going to get me. I am going to do my own food intake and exercise program to drop these nasty pounds! I have found that it is very hard to lose peri, meno and post pause in my physical body. As I was doing my own attempts of transforming my body back to its normal I realize also my taste buds have changed. I crave more salty, sweet and or extra flavorful foods. Which is not a good thing.
I have almost a 20% weight gain in the last 3 to 5 years. The weight does not appear to be coming off easily. I often joke “That darn Eve” is the reason we as women go through what we go through. Yes, I said that darn Eve in terms of the perimenopause, menopause and post menopause.
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) research includes the flucuations in our taste buds, weight gain from the decline of estrogen, “climateric” or hot flashes due to the changes in the body from perimenopause, menopause or post menopause. We know the weight gain can be normal as we get older due to the slowing of physcial activity and our slowing metabolism that can also decrease muscle mass. It does not have to win!
What Am I Going To Do?
I will focus on my favorite exercise activity and I am going to have a food plan designed specifically for me.
